Colophon
Historically, a colophon was a statement at the end of a book, about it’s authorship and printing. It was a place for creators to lift each other up, and celebrate top-notch production.
At Scriveners Paper, we are all about supporting our fellow creatives, (not to mention nerding out about how stuff is made!) So to those who share our passion for collaboration, here is a list of who made what, and how they made it:
Writing and Wordsmithing
The OG Scriveners, Leon and Maggie, Brian Saunders, and Ivan Wild, did not know that their heartfelt correspondence would inspire this project decades later, but their contributions were foundational. Scriveners Paper would not exist without those countless handwritten letters.
The Scrivener’s Prayer poem was written by the wonderful Margaret Sims, from Kennesaw, GA.
Art and Design
The original inspiration and card design came from my daughter, Audrey Grace Bowler, from Somerville, MA.
Our brand identity was designed by Noah Stalcup in Birmingham, AL.
Noah also designed and created our website using the Squarespace 7.1 Fluid Engine editor (plus a touch of custom CSS to get the typography juuuuust right.)
The custom handwritten messaging featured across our brand was written by the talented Rachel Giadrosich.
The Scriveners Paper Folio was designed and manufactured by Brian Rowley at Growley Leather in Fairhope, AL. Each folio is skillfully made by hand using full-grain cowhide on a Cobra Class 26 machine. The SP stamp on the front was cast in brass by the good folks at Leather Stamp Maker, then hand-stamped into each folio by the Growley team.
The first edition of cards was printed by Printswell in Pelham, AL. Papers used include:
• Soft white, 100lb, eggshell finish cards
• Ultra white, 110lb, cotton finish notecards
• Natural white, 236lb, cotton finish notecards
• Warm white, lb, eggshell finish envelopes
Each edition features art by independent fine artists from around the country. Check out our list of previous editions to read about each one.
Our Salvation Army Camp Pine Summit thank-you card was designed by Lil’ Anthony Barnes in Los Angeles, California.
Photography
The photographic styling of Scriveners Paper is a hodgepodge of images from friends, family, and strangers. Here are as many photo references as we could find. Thank you to the photo-artists who made this website possible!

Advocates and Idea Catalysts
Finally, Scriveners Paper wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the continued support and encouragement of these fantastic people:
Brock Fogle, who is always willing to dream with me. Brandon Lower of Build Design Studio offered invaluable business advice and came up with the idea for the Scriveners Paper Folio. Artist and visual storyteller Grace Ann Perry of graceannperry.com helped immensely with design details. Rick Matthews of Matthews Effects is the absolute best collaborator. My Lil’ Bro is my biggest cheerleader and will always be my hero, “West Coast Wreckers!” And, Heather Canup has helped me reflect on why this project matters so personally to me and to my story. Thanks, everyone, for coming alongside me in this endeavor. Super grateful!
